Hunger Games
Katniss Everdeen is a teen living in a futuristic North American country called Panem. Of the thirteen original districts, only 12 remain; the thirteenth was annihilated during the rebellion against the Capital. Every year, the Capital holds the Hunger Games, a fight-to-the-death battle among a male and a female from each remaining district. Every aspect of the battle is televised for the viewing public. The winner receives a life of plenty, both for them and their district. The losers, well, they lose everything. And Katniss has been chose to participate in the Hunger Games.
Catching Fire (Spoiler Alert!)
It may be obvious to mention, but Katniss survives her first Hunger Games by a defiant twist that put the Capitol in a bad light. And now they're after her in a bad way. Previously, a Hunger Games winner was set for life, never having to worry about money, food, or shelter. And especially not having to worry about entering the dreaded Arena again. But this time, because of Katniss' bold defiance, all past Hunger Games winners are being called yet again into the Arena. This is a battle among the best of the best. The stakes are high, and everybody could lose.
